The Impact of Women in the Logistics Workforce

Women have been making significant strides in reshaping the logistics industry, driving innovation, and promoting greater diversity within supply chains. As more women take on leadership roles, they are not only improving productivity but also fostering an inclusive workplace that values work-life balance and employee well-being.

The Impact of Women in the Logistics Workforce

Around 24% of the logistics and supply chain workforce is women, and about 47% of the overall workforce is made up of women. Although ladies represent a smaller portion, their impact is undeniable.

Women in Logistics

Women have been instrumental in shaping the logistics industry, overcoming significant challenges to make their mark in an historically male-dominated field. One such trailblazer is Lillie Elizabeth McGee Drennan, the first licensed female truck driver and trucking company owner in the United States. In 1929, Drennan co-founded Drennan Truck Line in Texas and later became its sole owner. At a time when the trucking industry was almost entirely male-dominated, she not only ran the business but also drove the trucks herself—often carrying freight across difficult, unpaved routes. Drennan also prioritized safety and is known for insisting that her drivers maintain excellent driving records. She ran her company for over 20 years, proving that women could not only work in logistics but also lead in it.

Her pioneering spirit lives on today in our business, where co-owners Mia Allen and Amy Olson continue to break barriers in the pallet industry. They exemplify the same resilience and leadership that Drennan embodied nearly a century ago. Through their commitment to innovation and service, they provide customers with efficient, reliable solutions that streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance supply chain performance.

Champions for Productivity

Cultural shifts are reshaping workplaces, and much of this progress can be attributed to women advocating for better work-life balance. These changes not only reduce burnout but also improve productivity and employee well-being. At Rose Pallet, Mia and Amy recognize these challenges and have fostered a workplace culture that supports work-life balance. By prioritizing flexibility and a supportive environment, they ensure their team can excel professionally while also having the time and energy for personal and family commitments.
