Happy Employees are the Secret to Success

Regardless of which industry you work in, the struggle to find qualified labor is a challenge shared by many. While the tight labor market is beyond control, business owners do have great influence over retaining existing employees. And ensuring employee happiness has far-reaching benefits.

At a time when the pallet industry is experiencing shortages in labor, material, and supply as well as rising costs, performance isn’t measured as much by numbers. Rather, it can be quantified by customer retention. Of course, it takes happy employees to have satisfied customers.

For good or for bad, employees are a large part of why customers buy from one pallet company over another. With helpful and happy employees, a customer may choose to do business with a provider even if the price is higher. The contrary is also true. One bad encounter with an employee can turn away business even if the price, convenience, quality, and other factors are present.

That’s why, at Rose Pallet, we focus on creating a happy and energetic culture for our employees. It’s something that we can control in these uncertain times, and that we strive to continually develop. We start simple—paying attention to one another. As a small business, we can easily spot when someone deserves recognition for a job well done or, on the other hand, a word of encouragement. This support is what makes our work environment and our people so pleasant.

We also make sure all staff are dialed in to the overall company objective and that each person knows his or her role and purpose in making it happen. Our company also holds team-building events outside of work to build camaraderie. All of which heightens job satisfaction and employee retention.

Ultimately, low turnover means that our employees can develop long-standing relationships with our customers. Each time customers call, they know what to expect—a positive experience with an employee who not only knows about their business, but also cares about them on a personal level.

But don’t just take our word for it. Put us to the challenge and experience our passion for pallets and serving you. Not only will buying pallets be a pleasing experience, but you might also be happier for it.
