The Impact of Pallet Quality on Productivity

Quality is important and should be considered in each part of the manufacturing process. Having quality items can ensure the quality of the finished product, especially when it comes to pallets. Pallets should be a good quality in many manufacturing processes especially as we are creating sensitive materials such as food, chemicals etc.

The Impact of Pallet Quality on Productivity

Key Considerations for Manufacturers

Even if you are not creating a consumable product the quality is seriously important. You may think you are saving money by buying cheaper poorer quality pallets. Yet, you are very wrong. Higher-quality pallets allow a higher volume of products per shipment, reduce the amount of product lost to damages or contamination, prevent worker injury from overloaded or unbalanced shipments, and reduce expenses such as fuel costs. Being able to re-use a quality new pallet until it is ready for recycling can be more beneficial than frequently buying cheaper quality options. Also, quality custom pallets may be needed for certain machinery in the warehouse. If not cut precisely with the correct detentions, the machine could reject the pallets. Having the entire production process halted because of a faulty pallet can negatively impact operational costs.

Warehouse Safety

Another aspect of pallet quality that is essential to keep in mind is that it absolutely impacts the safety in the warehouse. Poorly made and overused pallets are at risk of breaking. If the pallet is in use at the time of breakage, it runs the risk of harming the team member trying to perform their duties. We have another source that elaborately goes into more pallet safety reminders to help workers avoid injury and lost time. Having someone in the warehouse designated to ensuring the safety of the workers is going to enhance the internal operations. It is even recorded from a PennState study that From Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2018, there were an estimated 30,493 people who visited hospital emergency rooms for pallet-related injuries.

Trying to save money now will typically cost you more in the end. Buying quality pallets can help cut down on worker injuries and on product damage in the long-term. This is why having the proper vendors in place is crucial for the returns of a business.
