3 Reasons to Re-Think Pallet Recycling

As another Earth Day approaches, we have a hot topic for your consideration—pallet recycling. Does it pay off from a financial standpoint? Are you getting paid accurately for your pallets? And, who is helping you? The answers may cause you to re-think your current program.

Next Wednesday, April 22, is Earth Day. This year marks 50 years since the first event in 1970. And, although large groups will not be able to gather and celebrate, there are still actions we can take on our own as individuals, employees, and business owners.

The major initiative for Earth Day 2020 is climate action. And, in that spirit, we have a hot topic for your consideration (pardon the pun)—Pallet Recycling. Will it pay off? What is your payout? Who is helping you?

Will it pay off?
Recycling pallets is a smart business decision and it benefits the environment. From a financial standpoint, sending waste to landfills is expensive. Recycling pallets puts money in your pocket. Beyond that, you’re keeping pallet waste out of landfills. This is good for two reasons. First, it reduces the size of landfills and the degree to which they can pollute local groundwater and soil. Secondly, it reduces greenhouse gases CO2 and methane which contribute to global warming or climate change. (Biodegradable waste, including wood, produces these gases when it is left to rot in landfills.)

What is your payout?
Lumber prices have been steadily increasing, which means the value of recycled pallets is also on the rise. That makes used pallets (or cores) a prized possession. But, if you have pallets to sell, how can you ensure you’re getting paid accurately? Pallet recyclers that service large national accounts have to count and sort hundreds of pallets every day. If a mistake is made with your load count, you could be losing money. At Rose Pallet we are small, but thorough. We take quality control seriously, which is why we count and grade every pallet you want to sell. This helps guarantee you will receive the correct payout for your valuable pallets.

Who is helping you?
If you’re not recycling your pallets, you need to start and Rose Pallet can help. We specialize in helping smaller companies recycle pallets when they are no longer suitable for transit. With our help, you can grow your pallet sales income and protect our planet.
