Pallets for the Planet: Preparing for Global Recycling Day
What do the nation’s leading retailers, beverage distribution companies, and furniture stores have in common? They are all known for their commitment to sustainability and recycling. Want to join them? Start with your pallet supply…
Global recycling day is just around the corner on March 18. To help you prepare, we’ve compiled a list of resources to help you with pallet recycling.
1. Nature’s Packaging has a great library filled with articles and other material related to wood packaging and recycling including a wood waste calculator.
2. Pallet Foundation supports research and education initiatives within the wooden pallet and container industry. They have many resources related to sustainability and recycling.
3. North American Pallet Recycling Network is a resource that connects those who have pallets with those who need pallets, so no pallet goes to waste.
4. Pallet Enterprise focuses on the pallet and container industry. Their magazine provides news, articles, and resources related to pallet recycling and sustainable practices.
5. Recycle.net is an online marketplace and information exchange for recyclable commodities, including pallets.
6. Recycling Today covers news and information related to recycling across various industries, including pallet recycling. Check out this article about how Menards recycled 7 million wood pallets in one year.
7. Rose Pallet has a drop trailer program. With this service, we will drop an empty trailer at your location into which you can unload wood or plastic pallet waste. When you reorder pallets, or when you call us to report a full trailer, we can drop/switch the trailers and remove the scrap or waste for recycling.
8. Our blog is also a great resource for creative and alternative uses for pallets after they’ve reached the end of their safe usability. Check out a variety of posts on pallet upcycling.
So, next time you see a pallet lying around, consider re-use, recycling, or upcycling rather than tossing it out with the trash. Every pallet counts! For more information, please contact us.
