Pallets Provide the Base Solution for Chemical Logistics

We all do it. Usually first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Of course, we’re talking about brushing our teeth. But what does personal care have to do with pallets? Let’s explore the link…

Toothpaste, soap, detergent, and air fresheners. All of these household items include ingredients produced by chemical companies. These ingredients are supplied to well-known brands to manufacture into the personal care and cleaning products we use daily. But how do they get there? On pallets, of course.

Indeed, pallets are the base solution (pardon the pun) in chemical logistics––transporting chemicals from manufacturing facilities to distribution centers, and from there to retailers or end users. But their usefulness extends beyond transportation.

Storage & Warehousing: Pallets serve as a fundamental unit for storing and organizing chemical products in warehouses and distribution centers. Palletized loads make it easier to stack and store chemicals, which maximizes space.

Hazardous Material Handling: Pallets are also used to segregate and contain different types of chemicals, ensuring proper storage and preventing cross-contamination.

Drum and Container Support: Chemicals are often packaged in drums, containers, or intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). Pallets offer a stable and secure base for stacking and transporting these containers, minimizing the risk of damage or leakage during handling and transportation.

Recycling and Sustainability: Pallets can be recycled or reused, minimizing waste, and contributing to sustainability efforts within the industry.

Pallet Solutions for the Chemical Industry

Plastic, steel, and composite pallets are the most widely used types in the chemical industry. All offer a balance of strength, durability, and resistance to chemicals. They can also be designed to comply with regulations specific to the chemical industry such as spill containment, ventilation, or static dissipation.
