Pallet Procrastination – Dilemma or Opportunity?

Deep cleaning is a chore many of us put off until spring. But, we don’t just procrastinate when it comes to cleanliness. When it concerns managing your pallet inventory, do you always ‘spring to it?’ Do these two things to avoid the pitfalls of pallet procrastination.

Deep cleaning is a chore many of us put off until spring. But, we don’t just procrastinate when it comes to cleanliness. Honey-do lists, anyone? How about when it concerns work. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

procrastination conceptWhen it comes to managing your pallet inventory, do you always ‘spring to it?’ Or, do other tasks take precedence? Rose Pallet understands that, as a purchasing manager, you are responsible to keep overhead low. Provided you have an accurate pallet usage forecast, it’s not always necessary to carry a large inventory of pallets, which can take up space in your warehouse, create unnecessary mess (requiring aforementioned spring cleaning), and lead to increased operational costs. But, despite your best efforts, sometimes forecasts aren’t accurate.

There are two things we recommend to avoid a pallet emergency:

  1. Be proactive. This spring, start fresh and make it a regular practice to assess your pallet supply. As soon as you notice a variation from projection, notify your pallet supplier and submit your purchase order. The more lead time you can give, the easier it will be to procure the right pallets at the right price. If you’re short on resources, you can outsource pallet inventory management.
  2. Be selective. Don’t just order pallets from a low-bid provider. Research pallet providers and inquire about all of their capabilities and services they offer such as just-in-time or JIT delivery. You may not think you need it, but if you ever experience a shortage and need delivery fast, you’ll be glad to have a JIT supplier.

If you’ve been putting off pallet management until tomorrow, you’re not alone. But, now is the time! And, Rose Pallet would like to help. Because we have vendors strategically located across the U.S., we have access to a continuous supply of pallets regardless of season. When you partner with us, you can rest assured that we’ll deliver. We can also assess your shipping operations, determine the correct size and strength of pallets needed, and manage your supply.
