If you’ve been following our blog, you know that we like to promote events that relate to pallets or the logistics and supply chain management industry. Some are educational while others are fun. Later this week, however, there is a festival in Statesboro, Georgia, that combines both learning and entertainment to help spread awareness about environmentally friendly initiatives and the use of wood as a renewable resource. Plus, there is a contest involving pallets (more on that below)!

This Saturday, October 6, local citizens and visitors alike are invited to attend the 6th Annual GreenFest 2018 from 9am until 1pm for live music, activities for kids, and free workshops to help attendees save green while living green. There will also be an electronics recycling station, courtesy of Goodwill.

Pallet Challenge

Last year, first prize went to the creator of this pallet cooler.

But, the main event worth checking out is the Pallet Contest.  Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability, in partnership with the Business Innovations Group (BIG) and the Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education, has organized Statesboro’s 4th Annual Pallet Challenge.

Teams or individuals compete by showcasing upcycled pallet creations. All entries are composed of at least 75% used pallets. Last year, there were 20 entries in contention with first-prize honors going to the creator of a pallet cooler! This year first, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded; judging will begin at 10 am and winners announced at noon.

Past entries include surf boards, a garden wall, a fishing bench, gardening table, and a motorized pallet car!

For all our readers near Statesboro in the Peach State, consider attending this free event to explore green products and solutions, learn tips from sustainability experts, listen to live music, participate in a raffle drawing, and peruse all of the upcycled pallet creations.

Want to enter the contest next year? Bookmark this site and be sure to register by mid-September 2019 to participate.

Fall is the season for football. And although not everyone cheers for the same team, all football fans love this time of year because they get to watch their favorite teams battle it out on the gridiron. It’s a similar situation with pallet buyers and suppliers. Although we’re on different sides of the transaction, we are united in one goal—to overcome prevailing market challenges.

In This Together Through Charitable Outreach

This year we had to learn how to cope with many challenges due to the virus. And in the process, we developed new phrases and slang that are now commonplace including ‘quaranteam,’ ‘virtual happy hour,’ and the ubiquitous ‘in this together.’ While that last phrase is often used to signify unity, at Rose Pallet it has greater meaning. Being ‘in this together’ is more than something we say, it describes something that we do.
