This Sunday, November 15, is “America Recycles Day,” which is a special day officially set aside by the U.S. government in 2004 to create awareness for and encourage Americans to recycle and buy recycled products. One place you can start is with your operation’s pallet procurement. Recycled pallets are a cost effective and viable alternative to buying new pallets. But, you can also do your part to recycle and reduce waste in your home or office.
At the America Recycles Day Web site, you can determine when, where, and how to recycle in your community; take a pledge to learn about recyclable materials, actively reduce your waste output, and encourage others to recycle; and attend or organize a recycling event.
Of course, the pallet industry already does a terrific job recycling pallet waste, either by upcycling the raw material into new products or recycling it for mulch, boiler fuel, and animal bedding to name a few uses. But, we know there is always room for improvement.
So, on this day, we challenge everyone in our industry to look around at work and identify new ways your business can practice recycling efforts.
Also, check out the National Recycling Coalition for more information on how you can become involved in the process and educate others about the importance of and need for America to Recycle.
Did You Know? According to a presidential proclamation by President George W. Bush, each person in America produces about four pounds of waste every day!
Love is in the air… To celebrate, we asked a few of our employees to share what they love about their job, and which upcycled valentines they would love to receive this holiday.
