5 Sister Owned Brands
National sister’s day (August 4th) is a great day to celebrate the sisters in our lives who make a difference. It is important to remember that nuclear family you were raised with and support them along their lives journey. Speaking of uplifting sisters, let’s shine a light on some incredible sister-owned brands making waves in their industries.
1. Rose Pallet

Rose Pallet is a pallet and crating brand located in the Chicagoland area. The Co-CEO’s Amy and Mia have been in the pallet industry for over 15 years. They re supporting manufacturers across the nation now. Both sisters are native to the Chicagoland area. Amy attended Eastern Illinois University and Mia attended Western Illinois Univserty. Philanthropy is very important to both sisters lives. Since being officially started in 2011 Rose Pallet has gone on to donate to multiple charitable causes including the cancer center in Modena IL, Chicago’s Crain’s list, the Polar Plunge for the special olympics and more. They have also been awarded multiple times for their entrepreneurial skills and the quality of work Rose Pallet has become known for.
2. Hable Construction
Sisters Susan Hable Smith and Katharine Hable founded Hable Construction in 1999. The company is named after their great-grandfather’s 20th-century road construction business. Now Hable Construction creates bold and graphic designs filled with color that have become their staple aesthetic. Their products are manufactured in America as well, dominantly in their North Carolina and New England factories. The sister Susan Hable also has a line of fine art she sells through their online site. Hable’s is committed to honoring family and artistic intricacy.
3. Karité Shea Butter

Three sisters, Naana Boakye, MD (Chief Executive Officer), Abena Slowe (Chief Operating Officer) and Akua Okunseinde (Chief Creative Officer) started Karité back in 2017. They pride themselves on selling only raw, undefined shea butter products. They have several commitments including their commitment to sustainability. This is achieved with their 100% recyclable packaging, sustainable energy use, and carbon-neutral shipping methods. They are founded on these sustainability issues, and also social ones. The three sisters have shown great strides in their social philanthropy goals especially with their staple #SheaForSoles. This is where they assist with provision of shoes for the women who work at the places in Ghana that harvest shea nuts and extract the raw shea butter their products are made out of.
4. Twine & Twig
Sisters Elizabeth White and Jacquelyn Tugwell started the business back in 2013. The Twine & Twig brand was said to be started by complete accident as well! “We started by accident,” Tugwell tells TODAY.com. “My daughter Banks was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was two. During that time, my sister kept me distracted by stringing beads and creating.” The jewelry brand was inspired by the beautiful coastline of North Carolina. Each creation is now handmade in Charlotte, NC and sold world wide. They have been spotted being worn by several celebrities including Paris Hilton (of the Hiltons) and Anna Camp. They also follow the trend of philanthropy with several different causes including the Ronald McDonald house, Cystic Fibrosis foundation, American Cancer society and more.
5. McBride Sisters Wine Company
The largest all women founded wine company, is also sister owned. The McBride Sisters Wine Company was founded in 2005 by Robin McBride and Andréa McBride. Unlike many of the other sister Co-Owners we’ve listed this particular group of sisters did not even meet until they were adults in 1999. The continued trend of the five is their commitment to philanthropy and sustainability. They are carbon neutral certified and started the SHE CAN fund to support professional women in their industry. They have even gone ahead and finalized their own vineyard to continue to expand and grow their thriving business.
