A Day in the Life of Pallet & Sawmill Facilities

Doing more with less. We’ve all had to adopt this strategy during times of inflation and supply chain disruption. Especially in the pallet industry. Next month there’s an opportunity to see firsthand how the industry is coping and how the manufacturing process is adapting.

Each fall, the National Wooden Pallet Container Association hosts plant tours to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into pallet manufacturing. This year the event offers tours of a hardwood sawmill and a new pallet manufacturing facility in Augusta, Georgia.

The event kicks off with a reception on Tuesday, October 18, followed by the plant tours on Thursday, October 19th. Attendees will visit Heart Wood Products in Warrenton, GA, to see how this plant is manufacturing and supplying wood packaging and pallets to some of the world’s largest companies in the Southeast. Battle Lumber out of Wadley, GA, is also opening its doors to show attendees how they manufacture grade lumber, pallets, cross ties, crane mats, and byproducts.

Despite labor and material shortages as well as unprecedented demand, these two companies have managed to grow and thrive. It is an excellent opportunity for those in the pallet industry as well as those responsible for procuring pallets to tour their operations, ask questions, and gain viable solutions to prevalent challenges.

At Rose Pallet, we look forward to these plant tours, building new business relationships, and catching up with suppliers. The end goal, of course, is to take the knowledge we gain and share it with you—our valued clients—to strengthen our partnership for the long haul.

For registration and hotel accommodation information, click Fall Plant Tours. But hurry!  This event sells out fast and the group hotel rate is only available through Sept 26th. For additional things to do while you’re in Augusta (other than enjoy a game of golf), check out visitaugusta.com.
