Attend GreenFest 2017 in the Peach State for Sustainability Solutions
Since wood is the mainstay of our products, at Rose Pallet, we like to give a shout out to events all across the country that promote environmentally friendly initiatives and the use of renewable resources. This Saturday, citizens in Statesboro, Georgia, are invited to attend the 5th Annual GreenFest 2017 from 9am until noon for live music, activities for kids, and free workshops to help attendees save green while living green including how to make a rainbarrel and eco-friendly cleaning supplies. This event caught our attention not only for its focus on sustainability, but also for its pallet upcycling contest.
Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability in partnership with the Business Innovations Group (BIG) and the Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education have organized Statesboro’s 3rd Annual Pallet Challenge. Teams or individuals are encouraged to upcycle used pallets into something new and creative. The only requirement is that the creation be composed of at least 75% used pallets. Judging is based on innovation, creativity, functionality, aesthetics, durability, and overall quality. First, second, and third place winners are determined by a celebrity panel of judges on Saturday October 7, 2017, starting at 10am, and prizes are awarded accordingly. In addition a People’s Choice winner will be selected by votes cast onsite and via the GreenFest Facebook page.
Last year’s winning projects included a fishing bench, a gardening table, and a motorized pallet car! Check out the photos of all entries for some great upcycling inspiration.
So, for all our readers near Statesboro in the Peach State, consider attending this free event to explore green products and solutions; learn tips from sustainability experts; listen to live music; participate in a raffle drawing; and vote for your favorite upcycled pallet piece.
