When talking with Alan Rose, president, it quickly becomes apparent that his two passions are business and philanthropic endeavors. And, the two are closely linked by one commonality: relationships. Alan’s success in business is a result of relationship building. His vast network of friends, colleagues, and associates are the reason he owns two namesake businesses, Rose Pallet and Rose Paving. So, it’s no wonder why his other passion involves giving back to those who enabled his accomplishments.

Therefore, to become acquainted with Alan is to know his outreach. And, one cause, asthmatic research, stands apart from all the rest. That is because, as a child, Alan suffered from severe asthma. He recalls, “I remember it affecting me the most around fifth grade. My shortness of breath would impede my ability to participate in sports to the full extent.”

His asthma is under control now thanks to the years of care and effort of Alan Leff, MD, professor of medicine and Section Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care at University of Chicago Medicine. Because of Dr. Leff and his team, Alan is able to breathe normally and carry on with a regular routine. Consequently, it was an easy decision for Alan to donate to Leff’s research. In fact, last year Alan received the Harper Award from the University of Chicago for his generosity and philanthropic efforts.

Through his giving and speaking out on asthma, Alan is hopeful it will generate more awareness, research, and resources for asthma patients. In the meantime, he’s not letting the disease slow him down from staying active in swimming and weight lifting, not to mention overseeing day-to-day strategy for two successful businesses.

What Material Pallet Is Right For Your Process?

The #1 reason to go with wood pallets is simply their cost effectiveness. Often pallets are being shipped to a different location so providing them with a high-cost item not directly associated with the product may be harmful to operational costs. The lumber utilized for wood pallets is also cheaper and more readily available than the other materials.
