The holiday break is fast approaching. Keeping the kids busy and maintaining your sanity could be tough. But we’ve got some fun ideas to lighten the load.

We get it.  While the kids have visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads, moms and dads see the holiday break a little differently. That’s because time at home can lead to boredom and mischief. Keep your kids busy and content with these fun crafts made from—you guessed it—wood!

  1. Wood Snowmen – With just scrap wood, paint, glue, and some buttons or other household knick-knacks, your kids can create decorative snowmen for the season. Click for tutorial.
  2. Pencil Holder – Help little ones becomes better organized when school resumes with this easy-to-make wooden pencil holder. Only five easy steps. Learn how to do it here.
  3. Ornaments – We would be remiss if we didn’t include a tutorial for wooden ornaments. The tree could always use one more, so why not add rustic charm to yours? Click for tutorial.
  4. Twig Mobile – This craft will bring out the engineering minds in your kids. Using twigs from the yard, yarn, scissors, and a rock, your kids can create a twirling mobile while learning about concepts including tension and center of gravity. For step-by-step instructions, click here.
  5. Stick Man – Remember Forky from Toy Story 4? Your kids can create a sturdier version using sticks. And in the process of looking for just the right one, perhaps they can clear out all the others cluttering your yard too! For this simple project, all you need is a good stick, pipe cleaners, and some googly eyes.  Learn more here.

We hope this holiday season brings you lots of joy and hours of creative pleasure! And, as always, if you need pallets or perhaps a piece of scrap wood or two, please contact us.
