It’s no secret that Rose Pallet is passionate about relating to our clients and collaborating with our co-workers, vendors, and industry experts. Indeed, our work is pleasant because of people. But, technology also plays a role in our business. We use it to process and track orders, for quality assurance, and–of course–to design pallets for optimum performance.
As an active user of the Pallet Design System™ (PDS), the material handling industry’s premier design tool for wood pallets, we are able to customize the perfect pallet for our customers’ unique performance requirements. And, as an added benefit, pallets manufactured with PDS technology are recognized by the USDA’s BioPreferred® Program as a biobased product.
The software system undergoes regular updates to ensure it has the features and functionality demanded by manufacturers and end-users. We can testify that every time a new version is released, we’re able to do even more with it to benefit our clients.
The latest update, version 5.6, was released last fall. A few of the notable enhancements include the ability to design and print specifications in multiple languages including Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.
Since type of wood can affect pallet performance and material handling costs, the system now supports 20 new international wood species for lumber specification. This enables pallets to be designed with the ideal wood species, whether domestic or imported, to optimize supply chain operations and the bottom line.
This version also features a forklift support analysis to quickly and accurately determine pallet performance when entered and lifted from the side. This data is especially useful for analyzing extra-long stringer pallets without expensive testing or trial-and-error.
Rose Pallet is proud to incorporate PDS into our technology toolbox because it helps our customers reduce costs, minimize product damage, and increase safety throughout the unit load handling system. We believe a well-informed customer makes better buying decisions, which is why we like to promote continuing education opportunities in the industry. Next month there is a short 3-day course on pallet design which can help your purchasing process.
