Employee Spotlight Series

In addition to industry news, tips, and trends, our blog is also a great place to learn about our employees—the people behind the pallets. This quarter we sat down with Chris Galat, Director of Supply Chain, to learn more about him and his passion for this industry:

rose pallet employee spotlight series
  1. What makes Rose Pallet different from other pallet providers?
Service, response times, and attention to detail.  We pride ourselves on our ability to get back to customers fast and deliver on time and in full.
  2. What does a typical workday look like for you?
All over the board.  Some days I’m on the road visiting vendors. When I’m in the office, I’m building costing models, working with my team, evaluating lumber markets, looking for process improvement and cost savings opportunities, and interfacing with customers.  Never a typical day in the world of the supply chain!
  3. If you could make or buy one item repurposed from pallets, what would it be and why?
I would use pallets to make paintball fields.  I spent a lot of time playing tournament paintball competitively in college and now I compete in national amateur tournaments. There are lots of ways pallets can be used on a paintball field!
  4. How would people describe you?
Passionate, caring, analytical, creative, competitive, and a big thinker.
  5. What are the three most important things in your life?
My family/friends/Kathryn, my mental/physical health, and my career.
  6. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Hong Kong or Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Hong Kong was a second home to me when I was traveling on business earlier in my career; I still have friends there and absolutely love the city (and the food).  I spent some time in Chiang Mai when I was in Asia on business, and it might be my favorite city in SE Asia.  So much history and beautiful scenery.
  7. What was the best thing you did this past winter?
Snowboarding double blacks in thigh-deep powder in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Big Sky, Montana.
  8. What are you looking forward to?
Continuing to support the growth and success of Rose Pallet and summertime in Chicago!
