We are proud to be a part of the USDA Biopreferred® Program as a supplier of biobased pallets. Created by the 2002 Farm Bill and expanded as part of the Agricultural Act of 2014, the goal of the program is to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. This, in turn, creates new jobs and new markets for farm commodities. It also reduces our country’s dependence on petroleum, increases the use of renewable agricultural resources, and helps reduce adverse environmental and health impacts.
Over the years, the program has gained momentum and—most recently—it made a big impact on the pallet industry. That’s because in late 2016, the National Wooden Pallet & Container Association (NWPCA) announced that wood pallets manufactured with NWPCA’s Pallet Design System™ (PDS) are recognized by USDA’s BioPreferred® Program as a biobased product.
As an active user of the Pallet Design System, the news meant that the wood pallets we design and supply could bear the USDA Certified Biobased Product label. Since then, we have been doing our part to create demand, sell, and promote the use of biobased pallets. In this way, Rose Pallet and our customers are helping contribute to the economic impact of the U.S. Biobased Products Industry.
For an in-depth examination of how the industry has benefited our economy overall, we encourage you to read a recent report entitled, An Economic Impact Analysis of the U.S. Biobased Products Industry. Or, if you’re short on time, here are some notable highlights:
