8 Favorite Halloween Costumes

In celebration of Halloween, we asked our staff to share recent photos of their kids or grandkids in costume. Below are just some of our favorites, including a couple of grown-ups in disguise. From Seuss ‘things,’ superheroes, and monkeys to spectacularly made-up faces, it’s a treat to see each transformation.

Of course, it’s also the season to share some creative ways people have upcycled wooden pallets into decorations. This year, we found eerie-looking pallet slat shutters, a rickety old pallet fence enclosing a graveyard, a family of pallet pumpkins, and a pallet sign warning of spooks ahead. If you want to join the pallet upcycling craze, it’s easier than you think to find suitable pallets for the project. Start with locally owned (or smaller) businesses and simply ask them if you can take their used pallet material. When you explain your ghostly plans to spook your neighborhood ghouls and goblins, they will be more likely to help.
