earth dayToday marks the 45th Annual Earth Day!  On this day each year events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection.  Recycling practices are given a huge boost in particular.  Of course, the pallet industry contributes to this cause every day of the year with innovative and cost-effective recyclable material handling pallets and containers.

But, did you know that pallets can also be repurposed or upcycled into useful items such as furniture, planters, birdhouses, bookshelves, or even fencing?  In fact, the upcycling industry is booming with many businesses capitalizing on re-using pallet raw material.  There are also pallet upcycling events and workshops across the country.

Earth Day isn’t just limited to recycling or upcycling, however.  In our backyard, Earth Day Chicago showcases events like the Parks and Preserves Clean-up. Residents demonstrate their hometown pride by tidying up beloved parks and forest preserves.  Additionally, our local Brookfield Zoo hosts a “Party for the Planet,” which features plantings, an eco expo, and a live music performance.  To find out about events in your area, visit Earth Day Network.

Wherever you live, we hope this Earth Day inspires you to get out and experience an activity or, at least, contribute in some way to the preservation of our plant—whether it’s recycling your water bottle or re-using a pallet, every bit counts!

And, don’t forget, if you’re looking for an eco-friendly way to ship your product, contact Rose Pallet to discuss our recyclable pallet solutions.
