Operations and Sourcing Manager

If so, Rose Pallet in Westmont, IL is hiring for a multifaceted individual who can successfully multi-task the day-to-day responsibilities of a Sourcing and Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will have 5-7+ years of operations and/or supply chain experience (pallet or lumber industry experience is preferred), vendor relationship management, procurement, and procurement analytics experience. Role will report to the Director of Supply Chain.
Work Location:
- Office/home: 40%
- Vendors: 50% (Primarily Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana)
- Customers: 10%
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 5 years in an operations, supply chain, and/or procurement role
- Working knowledge of operating processes and cost drivers in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and writing skills; demonstrated experience in vendor and/or operations management, customer service
- Must be a highly motivated, self-starter and must have the ability to flourish in a rapidly changing, startup-type environment
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the pallet and/or lumber industry in operations, warehousing, or sales-related role
- Working knowledge of lumber commodity markets, production costs, and their impact on cost of goods in pallet manufacturing
- Strong analytic skills and intermediate-level understanding of excel or equivalent
- Previous analytic experience in demand, supply, capacity planning, procurement spend
- Previous experience working with over-the-road and intermodal carriers
- Working knowledge of RFx sourcing events
- Working knowledge of Salesforce and/or ERP system
- Experience working in Pallet Design System (PDS) or PalDraw

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and cultivate day-to-day vendor relationships with various pallet and lumber manufacturers nationwide
- Monitor vendor purchase orders and delivery activities to meet customer delivery schedules
- Monitor and audit Rose Pallet quality control programs while on-site at vendors
- Monitor, track, and analyze national and regional lumber and pallet market costing trends; analyze vendor cost inputs
- Find and cultivate new relationships with pallet manufacturers in new markets
- Purchase and sell lumber to Rose vendor partners
- Coordinate RFx events with manufacturers and Rose Pallet team
- Obtain quotes from pallet, lumber, and fastener manufacturers and distributors
- Create pallet specifications with Pallet Design System (PDS)
- Be a subject-matter expert as it pertains to pallet materials and pallet-making activities to customers as needed; investigate and recommend Pallet solutions to customers
- Collaborate with team members and vendors to document and improve operating processes and procedures
- Prepare reports for management as requested
- Keep current with technology and developments in lumber and pallet industry
- Visit Vendors at their plants (50% of time)
- Visit key Customers (10% of time)
- Perform other duties as assigned
