women executives move palletsOur Vice President, Mia Allen, was approached by Pallet Central, the journal for the solid wood packaging industry published by the National Wooden Pallet and Container Association, to provide commentary for an article featuring women executives in the industry. The article entitled “Women Who Move Pallets” appears in the Sept/Oct issue.

Mia was selected because of her long-time involvement in the pallet industry. Currently, in addition to overseeing employees and day-to-day operations at Rose Pallet, she manages logistics and shipping programs for Fortune 100/500 companies in a variety of markets. For the article, she and other female industry leaders were asked specific questions on topics including workplace gender diversity (or lack thereof), obstacles in the workplace, and proud moments or achievements.

The women executives profiled have all greatly benefited the industry by being female voices and part of the decision-making process. Each has a story about how she got her start in pallets and why it continues to be challenging and rewarding.

Mia was thrilled to participate and, in addition to the issues raised, she was happy to impart her advice and words of wisdom to young women thinking about or entering the world of pallets. She believes the future is bright and the industry will greatly improve as more women carry the leadership load (no pun intended).
