Upcycling at PalletFest

The people behind PalletFest, the first major upcycling festival recently held in Denver, are passionate about breathing new life into used material, but especially pallets.

Upcycling is a term used to describe the process by which a used object is repurposed and transformed into something new. The people behind PalletFest, the first major upcycling festival recently held in Denver, are passionate about breathing new life into used material, but especially pallets. Why? Because pallets are versatile and can be used to create just about anything!   From art, displays, and furniture to garden boxes, hanging planters, and more!

Earlier this month, on October 11-12, Amy Olson, our Vice President, ventured out to the mile-high city to check out PalletFest and everything the event offered including a sculpture park, interactive maze, fashion show, and home and garden show. When asked about her experience Amy commented, “It was a great opportunity to meet other pallet enthusiasts and see first-hand what creative folks are doing to repurpose this material and keep it out of landfills.”

In addition to the Denver community-at-large, others in attendance included local pallet manufacturers and recyclers, upcycling retailers, and representatives from local universities. Regardless of business or background, however, everyone shared a common interest in pallets, sustainability, and renewable resources. The festival certainly achieved its mission to spread the word and knowledge about upcycling. We look forward to more festivals of its kind.
