MHI 2016 Annual Conference Accelerating Change post

In just 12 days, manufacturers and distribution companies from around the country will convene at the Material Handling Institute (MHI) Annual Conference in Tucson, AZ, October 17-19. While the breathtaking vistas are a huge draw, the main attraction of this event is professional development. In fact, the education portion will focus on six topics as follows: material handling roadmap, supply chain workforce, technology, managing change, leadership, and marketing. Attendees can choose to attend either a classroom-style format or a hands-on “lab” experience for any of the six topics presented.

We recommend attending the Material and Supply Chain Technology track on Tuesday, October 18th. Both the classroom and lab formats are designed to help attendees learn which technologies are truly shaking up the material handling and supply chain industry and the subsequent impact on business operations.

In addition, there will be four keynote presentations delivered by influential business leaders covering drones in the supply chain, hiring and retaining talent, the economy, and technology on a global scale.

Social events include hikes, horseback riding, golf, and mosaic tiling to name a few. There will also be plenty of opportunities to network with attendees including during the opening dinner with entertainment provided by Tony Redhouse, a talented flutist, and a Native American hoop dancer. In addition to all of the great educational and networking opportunities, the conference is close to the Catalina State Park, where the beauty of the Sonoran Desert is inescapable.  Consider staying a few extra days to explore the natural landscape.

If you plan on attending this event, please report back and let us know what you learned.  It looks like a great way to spend a few days in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains while also learning about new innovations and technologies affecting the industry.
