This week we sat down with Michael Loizzo, President, to learn more about his passion for this industry and to get his opinion on various topics:

1. What was your most unusual or unique job? I was formerly in direct contribution sales for over 20 years. During that time, I sold everything from gym shoes to technology products, but I would say the most unusual job was selling kitchen equipment to correctional facilities. I was even featured as a model (wearing a prison uniform) in the company’s product catalog!

2. What do you enjoy most about working for Rose Pallet?
Connecting with people. From our staff and partners to our customers, I enjoy interacting daily with people and learning more about their business challenges and personal stories. In fact, the same affinity for people is shared by all employees at Rose Pallet. That value driver—a true passion for connecting with and serving our clients—is what sets us apart from the competition.

3. If you could make or buy one item repurposed from pallets, what would it be? I am currently making an end table and a coffee table out of repurposed pallets for my basement family room.

4. What are you most thankful for? Growing up, I was fortunate to have my cousins as neighbors and we developed a very close friendship. That family bond has remained strong through this day. Therefore, I am most thankful for my immediate and extended family. As a father, I am extremely grateful for the relationship I have with my two sons. And, in spite of the fact that my extended family now lives in various regions throughout the country, I remain in close contact with everyone and I know how they are all doing at any given moment.

5. Name three people you admire and why:
My Mother, Laurie. She is my business role model and the cornerstone of our entire family. She has taught me more than I could ever quantify and I appreciate her dearly.
Michael Jordan. Aside from being the Greatest of All Time, he was dedicated to his craft and laser-focused on being the best player he could possibly be. His drive and, most importantly, his desire to take the “last shot” is polarizing. Just like every young basketball player, viewing him on television or witnessing him play live made me want to be a better athlete.
Our Military. Although I have never felt like it was my path, I thank them all for risking their lives, heeding the call, and possessing the valor and courage to defend and preserve the liberties and freedoms that we celebrate daily.

6. If you could play the role of any TV character for a day, who would you choose and why?
I would like to spend the day as Ray Donovan from the show of the same name because he is mysterious, tough, and surrounded by drama and action daily.

7. If you could interview anyone, who would it be and why? Keith Haring, an American artist and social activist, so I could be in the presence of his genius and creativity. His soul and his passion are missed in today’s world.

8. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Basketball, golf, skiing, being a Chicago Super Fan–CONGRATS CUBBIES!!!, coaching my sons’ teams, mountain biking, and cooking.
